dry needling

Dry needling is a method used to effectively and efficiently resolve trigger points related to chronic or acute pain and dysfunction. Dry needling will act to enhance your healing and provide a boost to your performance and recovery.

Injuries, stress, physical conditions, exercise, disability, as well as lifestyle and postural factors, are all potentially associated with the cause of painful trigger points. Our therapists will identify and release active trigger points, whilst restoring and maintaining healthy soft tissue including muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.

the role of trigger points

injuries, pain & headaches

Trigger points can form in your muscles if you have experienced an injury, or have poor posture, or have just been working your body very hard. Trigger points can cause pain in localised and referred areas around your body.  Referred pain is pain felt in an area other than the actual site of the pain origin due to an interconnected network of sensory nerves. For example, an injury to your lower back may give you pain in your legs. An injury of your shoulder may give you pain in your arms and fingers. Headaches, blurry vision, dizziness, poor sleep and fatigue, can all be caused by trigger points and physiological dysfunction around the neck, shoulder and head regions. There are many other factors and causes of such symptoms as well.

Vascular and neural symptoms such as numbness and tingling sensations, can also be associated with active trigger points that may be inhibiting the optimal function of blood vessels and nerves around your body. Such symptoms are often bi-products of other associated pathologies and conditions, however, the role of active trigger points in relation to your symptoms should never be overlooked. This is especially the case with many people suffering from chronic pain and discomfort.
